Vanessa Karubian Saxe, CHBE, CPE – Facilitator
As a mom, I know how hard it is to sift through all the information out there. I also know how nice it is to meet with a group of other parents every week to talk about what is happening with my baby, and to get helpful hints and relevant information from real experts. Our program that has helped countless new parents (and some 2nd and 3rd time parents) get their babies on a schedule that works well with their lifestyle–usually that includes sleeping through the night! We also pride ourselves on our techniques for raising thriving toddlers. It has been so rewarding to see these parents work with all the information we give them to make informed decisions about nutrition, development, behavior and the many other things involved in raising a child.
Prior to getting my MBA from Wharton, I taught elementary school in Northern California and went on to become the Program Director of Girls Inc. of NYC where I developed and facilitated educational programs for girls in New York City. I have a BA in Urban Studies and Youth Development from UC Berkeley and a long history of working with children. I am a Certified Parent Educator through Parent Prep, a Certified Happiest Baby Educator and a proud mother of Stella and Ziggy.

As a mother of twin boys (Luke and Liam), I know very well how daunting the experience of becoming a parent can be – especially in Los Angeles which sometimes isn’t the most baby-friendly place and where many of us are transplants, living far away from our own families. As a facilitator at Babytalk LA, I aim to provide new parents with a safe space to share their questions and concerns, to discuss what the experts advise regarding all things baby-related and how to share tips and techniques that parents feel most helpful to them and their child. Most importantly, I strive to foster confidence in new moms and dads so they’re able to really enjoy this special time in their life.
Prior to joining Babytalk, I earned a masters degree in Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from Pepperdine University and a bachelors degree in Psychology from the University of Michigan where I worked at an on-campus preschool as a teacher’s aid. As part of my masters training, I worked as an individual and group therapist at Exodus Recovery in East Los Angeles and at Westside Pregnancy Clinic in their West L.A. and Crenshaw locations. I’m currently in private practice providing therapy to individuals, couples and families out of my office in Santa Monica.
Emily Markowitz Bailey, LMSW, LCSW – Facilitator
I am a mom to an amazing 3 year-old boy and after having the incredible experience of being in a Babytalk group I very much wanted to facilitate. My hope is to help provide new parents the same comforting, encouraging, wonderful experience I had as a new mom.
I have over eighteen years of experience as a psychotherapist and counselor. I have worked with children in Head Start programs, seniors, adolescents, adults and couples with varying conditions and diagnoses. I also provided crisis counseling and administered emergency aid to the survivors of both 9/11 and Hurricane Katrina. During the course of my career, I have worked in a multitude of settings, including the prestigious Maple Counseling Center in Beverly Hills, California, Jewish Family Service, The Actors Fund of America, Society of Singers and Ocean Park Community Center.
I earned my Master of Science degree in Clinical Social Work from Columbia University in New York City and went on to get my certificate in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy from The New Center for Psychoanalysis in Los Angeles. I am also currently in private practice where I see individuals and couples.

As a facilitator at Babytalk LA, I help parents gain the knowledge, both theoretical and practical, to feel good about the way they are raising their child and help them have a great relationship with him or her. My specialty is helping new parents find a rhythm that works for them and giving parents the tools to help their babies become lifelong healthy sleepers. I also help parents understand their toddler and give them techniques and the tools to raise a loving and happy child
Before joining Babytalk LA, I studied Communications at Stanford and also received a Masters in Sociology there with an emphasis on human/group interaction. I then attended Columbia Law School.
